Sustainable Technology for Africa
Flagship entrepreneurship program supporting social enterprises in Uganda
The ST4A Program, also known as Sustainable Technology for Africa, is Einstein Rising's flagship entrepreneurship initiative. It supports entrepreneurs at both the incubation (early-stage) and acceleration (growth-stage) levels.
The program comprises four core components: ST4A Seed, ST4A Grow (OVO), ST4A Thrive and the Shared Service Centre.
01 ST4A-Seed
ST4A-Seed
The ST4A Seed program is designed to empower early-stage entrepreneurs at the incubation level with business development support by offering comprehensive training, coaching, mentorship, and essential business development support.
Training duration
Training conducted over 2.5 months.
Mentorship
2–3 weeks post-training. Trainers / Coaches provide mentorship, with support from Einstein Rising staff.
This program combines both physical workshops and online sessions, maximizing accessibility and engagement for entrepreneurs regardless of their location. Through this hybrid approach, the Incubation program effectively reaches diverse entrepreneurs across Uganda and beyond, fostering inclusive learning, coaching and mentorship.
Through tailored coaching and mentorship, participants receive guidance on refining their business models, developing market strategies, and building operational capacity. The foundational support also includes access to essential tools and resources that help entrepreneurs navigate challenges and accelerate their ventures.
This incubation program aims to nurture sustainable businesses with strong social and environmental impact, equipping entrepreneurs with the skills and networks with different entrepreneurs in the same space (peer to peer learning) as well as expert coaches to scale their businesses.

- Consultation Sessions — 2–3 weeks post-training. Trainers provide consultation, with support from staff.

Criteria for Incubation
- Business must be legally registered in Uganda.
- Operating for less than 3 years or in the startup phase (proof of concept).
- Clear product or service with market demand.
- Demonstrates potential for scalable growth.
- Strong and committed founding team.
- Financials or projections indicate viability.
- Contributes to social, economic, or environmental impact.
- Willingness to participate in mentorship and capacity-building programs.
- Compliance with local laws and regulations.
02 ST4A-Grow
ST4A-Grow
Einstein Rising in partnership with OVO (Ondernemers voor Ondernemers) supports social Ugandan African entrepreneurs in scaling sustainable and impact-driven businesses through intensive coaching, strategic business development, and investment readiness training.
Selected participants take part in a Boost Camp followed by tailored one-on-one mentoring to strengthen their financial planning, operations, and growth strategy. This acceleration program helps Ugandan businesses at maturity or acceleration level to grow by providing knowledge sharing, coaching/mentorship, and access to finance. This support enables them to become stronger, create sustainable jobs, and strengthen local economies.
Criteria for Acceleration
- The company is formally registered as a legal entity with the Uganda Registration Bureau for minimum two years.
- The company must have a turnover of minimum EUR 20,000 in the previous fiscal year.
- The company must have a functioning accounting system.
- The company has audited financial accounts for the previous three years.
- You have a business plan/pitch.
- The total investment required by the company is capped at EUR 250,000 (the investment requested should not exceed 50% of the company's turnover from the previous year).
- The company creates or is willing to create social and/or environmental impact.
- The new business idea includes the use of sustainable technology or contributes to a transition to a more sustainable society or economy through the use of technology.
Documents required
- A brief description of the company, process, product/service, target customers, business strategy, etc.
- A few images of the company's achievements and/or installations.
- A (preliminary) business plan.
- Recent presentation (pitch deck) in a PowerPoint or PDF file.
- Deed of incorporation and company registration number (URSB certificate of incorporation).
- Articles of association and by-laws of the company if provided for by the corporate form.
- Financial statements for the past 3 years, including a recent report covering the period up to June 2025, accompanied by a statement from the chartered accountant.
Networking & access to market
Enterprises will be linked to buyers, digital sales channels, or distribution partners such as:
- Networking events and exhibitions like ST4A business Club, Kampala Impact Day & GIZ events.
- Distribution partners like Kiboko Enterprises Limited, Maziwa Creamers Ltd.
- Einstein Rising also provides a display stall at their office for entrepreneurs to showcase their products.

ST4A-Thrive
The access to finance program facilitates financial linkages by connecting entrepreneurs with impact and angel investors.
Einstein Rising collaborates with several organizations, including:
Einstein Rising partners with microfinance institutions such as Hofokam and Kray Microfinance to support entrepreneurs in meeting funders' criteria.
